Arsenal fans feel like they have pulled off a real bargain by bringing in Gabriel for an initial fee of just £5 million.
The Guardian reported last night that they understand that Arsenal are actually only paying a very minimal sum for the Brazilian centre-back.
Most of Arsenal’s fee will be paid in installments over the coming years, meaning that the Gunners outlay for the defender has not been as vast as first thought.
And Arsenal fans feel that the deal looks like an excellent one for them, given Gabriel’s start to life at the Emirates Stadium.
Gabriel already looks set to play a key role for Arsenal this term, as he has been a regular pick of Mikel Arteta’s in the heart of defence.
While Arteta has not made him a mainstay yet, the initial signs are that he is perfectly suited to English football.
Gabriel is strong in the air, powerful in the tackle and looks very well suited to Arteta’s side’s style.
Arsenal are next in action against Manchester City, when Gabriel may well take his place in their backline again.
