Summer signing Eduardo Herrera hasn’t played a minute of football since Graeme Murty replaced Pedro Caixinha in the Rangers dugout.

Any Rangers fans who travelled to Auchenhowie to watch Jonatan Johansson’s reserve side host Manchester United on Thursday would have witnessed an all-too rare sight – Eduardo Herrera scoring for the Glasgow giants.
The Mexican striker has hardly set the world alight since joining from Liga MX side Pumas UNAM in the summer for a fee of £1.5 million, as reported by the Daily Record. With just two goals in 12 appearances in all competitions, Herrera is perhaps level with Carlos Pena in the ‘flop of the season’ stakes.
But at least Herrera provided a reminder of his quality with a goal against United’s Under-23 side, he and Manchester City loanee Aaron Nemane netting in a 2-2 draw.

This, however, should not distract from the fact that Herrera has been forced to drop down to the reserves in order to get some much-needed minutes under his belt.
Out of favour, out of Ibrox?
The 29-year-old, who only scored five goals in Mexico last season, has not played for Rangers’ first-team since Pedro Caixinha was replaced on the sidelines by caretaker boss Graeme Murty a fortnight ago.

Fellow summer signings Dalcio, Bruno Alves and Carlos Pena were all given a runout by Johansson after falling immediately out of favour with the clearly unimpressed Murty. And it appears unlikely that Herrera and co will force their way back into Rangers’ first-team in the foreseeable future.
The out-of-favour striker may have scored a rare goal in midweek but the fact he is getting his game-time with the reserves rather than the senior side doesn’t bode well for his future at Ibrox.
