Arsenal Sporting Director Edu has sent a message to West Ham United and Brazil international midfielder Lucas Paqueta on Instagram.
Edu, who was recently promoted to the role of Sporting Director from Technical Director at Arsenal, has congratulated Paqueta on the win for Brazil in their opening match at the 2022 Qatar World Cup.
Brazil got the better of Serbia 2-0 in Group G on Thursday.
Paqueta played for the South American giants in the match, and he is delighted with the win.
Edu has responded to his post on Instagram.
Paqueta joined West Ham from Lyon in the summer of 2022, but he was linked with a move to the Hammers’ London and Premier League rivals Arsenal.
The Northern Echo reported on August 10 that Arsenal and Newcastle were keen on securing the services of Paqueta in the summer of 2022.
Edu told Brazilian news outlet TNT Sports in July that he “really” likes the midfielder, and that he is a “big fan since long time” of his Brazilian compatriot.
The Arsenal Sporting Director is a former Brazil international, and his delight at Paqueta playing for the national team is evident.
Paqueta has made seven starts and one substitute appearance in the Premier League for West Ham so far this season, providing two assists in the process.
