Arsenal fans have taken to Twitter to react after hearing David Ornstein say that the club rejected a ‘substantial’ offer from Roma for Alexandre Lacazette in the summer.
Speaking on the Tifo Podcast‘s YouTube channel (9:14), Ornstein said: ‘Arsenal did receive a substantial offer towards the end of the transfer window just gone from Roma for Lacazette. It fell below their valuation for him, and so he stayed put.’
Seemingly as a result of the Frenchman’s recent form in front of goal, the Gunners supporters on Twitter seriously aren’t happy with this news.
Lacazette only has three goals in nine games so far this season, while missing a handful of wonderful opportunities in some fixtures – his mistimed header against Aston Villa being the freshest example.
However, it doesn’t seem entirely down to him. Mikel Arteta’s current system could perhaps be suffocating his forwards, as even Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang only has two Premier League goals this term.

Ornstein adds that he doesn’t think the Serie A side will renew their interest in January, and feels that Arsenal will instead focus on helping Lacazette return to top form rather than explore ways to sell him.
The 29-year-old has proven that he can lead the line in previous years.
In the 2018/19 campaign, he recorded an impressive 19 goals and also assisted 13 more.

That player can’t have disappeared altogether, so it’s imperative that Arteta helps his No.9 rediscover his old self.
Let’s see how the Arsenal fans on Twitter reacted to Ornstein’s update…
