Arsenal were heavily linked with a move for Yves Bissouma earlier in the January transfer window.
According to Football London on the 12th of this month, the 24-year-old is reported to have told people that he’s ‘desperate’ to join the Gunners.
The trail has gone pretty cold since then, but it’s possible that Edu might have a trick up his sleeve to get this one done for Arsenal in the final few days of the transfer window.
That’s because Brighton are reportedly on the verge of signing a player in the same mould as Bissouma.
Journalist Tim Vickery told Sky Sports News on Thursday that a deal for the Seagulls to sign Moises Caicedo is ‘looking likely’ and that an announcement was imminent.
The Ecuador starlet is, like Bissouma, a midfielder with defensive qualities and it’s very probable that he is being signed to replace the 24-year-old at Albion.
It’s also possible that Brighton – who announced record losses of £67 million – are signing Caicedo with a view to selling the Arsenal-linked star in the summer rather than now.
But Bissouma’s value from here on in is only going to depreciate, with his contract expiring in 2023, and if the Emirates Stadium want him now, maybe Edu could make it happen.
