The January transfer window has been quiet for many Premier League clubs, but one side who have been active is Arsenal.
Mat Ryan has arrived and Martin Odegaard has just come through the door, while Mesut Ozil and Sokratis have been shipped out, and Shkodran Mustafi isn’t expected to be far behind those two.
Arsenal may not be done when it comes to signing new players yet either, the Gunners have been linked to a number of left-backs such as Tyrick Mitchell and Ryan Bertrand, but perhaps the most interesting link has been to Jordan Amavi.
Amavi has been starring in Ligue 1 in recent years, and signing a player of his calibre would be something of a coup for the Gunners, and the best part is that he could be available for cheap.
Indeed, The Athletic report that Marseille are open to selling a number of players due to ongoing financial difficulties and overspending in the summer, and after Morgan Sanson joined Aston Villa, Amavi could be the next Marseille player to head to the Premier League.

Combine Marseille’s financial issues with the fact that Amavi’s contract is up in the summer, and you have to imagine that the left-back will be on the market for a bargain fee this month, and Edu has put Arsenal in a fantastic position to land him.
Getting the likes of Ozil and Sokratis off of the wage bill will have saved the Gunners a lot of money, and with Ryan and Odegaard only coming in on loan, Arsenal’s outgoings won’t be too substantial either.
Amavi could be an absolute bargain if Arsenal bring him in, and the London club are in a great position to do just that.
