Karamoko Dembele has taken to Instagram to post a heartfelt message to Celtic supporters after it was confirmed he has left Celtic to pen a four-year deal with Brest – prompting Mo Elyounoussi, Odsonne Edouard and more to react.
Dembele, 19, was billed as the next big thing coming out of Celtic’s academy during the Brendan Rodgers, and Neil Lennon era. But during 2021-22, he managed just two substitute appearances under Ange Postecoglou.

His contract expired at the end of May and now, the London-born talent has found himself a new club. He has completed a move to France, where he will team up with top-tier side Brest – signing a four-year contract.
Having spent nine years at Celtic after joining the club in 2013 at just 10 years of age, Dembele posted a touching statement on Instagram – in which he thanks the club for his time at Parkhead. He also discusses his injuries.
Dembele has left Celtic: Elyounoussi and Edouard react
It is a shame for Celtic fans to see Dembele go. A player with enormous potential, he caught the eye for his incredible dribbling and long-range shooting – despite his diminutive height and presence.
A player of his ability should have played much more than just the 10 outings for Celtic. But as he alludes to, injuries meant he was unable to do so. It is an exciting signing for Brest, ahead of the 2022-23 campaign.
The likes of Edouard and Elyounoussi wished him the best of luck – as did a whole host of Celtic players including Josip Juranovic, Michael Johnston and Stephen Welsh.
