According to L’Equipe, Edinson Cavani is open to extending his stay at Paris Saint-Germain, amid reported interest from Newcastle United.

It has been reported by the French publication that Cavani is willing to sign a new one-year or two-year contract with his club PSG.

The Uruguay international striker is out of contract at the Ligue 1 giants this summer.

According to Foot Mercato, Newcastle United are interested in signing Cavani on a free transfer this summer and are willing to offer him a golden contract.

PSG stay or Newcastle United move?

PSG are a massive club who regularly win the Ligue 1 title and compete in the Champions League.

Given that Cavani has been at the French giants since 2013, has been a huge success in Ligue 1, and is 33 years of age, it would make sense for him to stay at PSG for another one or two years.

However, the striker has lost his place in the starting lineup, and was able to make just seven starts and only substitute appearances in Ligue 1 this season before it was called off due to the global health crisis, according to WhoScored.

A move to Newcastle would represent a fresh start and a new adventure for Cavani, who is good enough to play at the highest level for one more year at least.
