Former Tottenham player Justin Edinburgh will take his Gillingham side to White Hart Lane tomorrow night to take on his old club in the third round of the EFL Cup, and the 46-year-old claims it will fulfil one of his ambitions since being involved in football management, as quoted by BBC Sport.

The Gills have started their League One campaign in an inconsistent fashion, winning three, losing three and drawing two of their opening eight games, but the unpredictability of cup games means anything could happen tomorrow night.

Edinburgh shared his elation upon hearing the draw that pitted his Gillingham side against Spurs, telling BBC Sport:

“When the draw came out there were some big cheers in my house. Once I became a league manager, and once there was a realistic opportunity of me drawing Tottenham in the cup, it was always an ambition and goal, and that’s another thing I can tick off my wish-list.”

The former left-back spent nearly ten years at White Hart Lane and made 279 appearances for the Lilywhites.

Edinburgh will obviously have his work cut-out if he expects to leave North-London with his side’s place in the EFL Cup fourth round secured, but his job will have been made slightly easier with the news of Harry Kane’s injury, along with Moussa Dembele and Eric Dier both being doubtful after sustaining knocks at the weekend.
