West Ham United are said to be looking to buy Edin Dzeko from Roma in January.

Edin Dzeko #9 of Roma is pursued by Cameron Carter-Vickers #38 of Tottenham Hotspur during an International Champions Cup match at SDCCU Stadium on July 25, 2018 in San Diego, California.

If West Ham United do sign Edin Dzeko, then it will surely spell the end for Javier Hernandez.

According to Calcio Mercato, West Ham are lining up a January bid for the Roma forward, who wants to return to the Premier League.

Manuel Pellegrini worked with Dzeko at Manchester City, and now reportedly wants a reunion with the striker at West Ham.

And if Dzeko was to arrive, then Hernandez’s future at the London Stadium would look bleak.

Hernandez has struggled for game time at West Ham throughout the whole of 2018, with his chances limited.

Marko Arnautovic has become West Ham’s talisman, and is monopolising the one striking position in the team.

With Dzeko added too, Hernandez’s competition for a place in the team would only be even more fierce.

And, considering Hernandez is on a £140,000-a-week contract (Sky Sports), West Ham would likely want to get the Mexican off their books, if Dzeko was to arrive.
