West Ham United should attempt a January move for Edin Dzeko.
Roma striker Edin Dzeko is no stranger to the Premier League, and he may well be eyeing a return to English football in 2019.
The Bosnian won two Premier League titles with Manchester City, hitting 72 goals in 189 games for the club following a 2010 move from German side Wolfsburg.
Dzeko, now 32, moved on to Roma in 2015 and now has a stunning record of 78 goals in 148 games, including 63 goals in the previous two seasons.
Now though, The Mirror report that Cardiff City, Crystal Palace and Southampton are interested in landing Dzeko, carrying quotes from him confirming that he would like a return to the Premier League.
One team who should be taking notice is West Ham United, as Dzeko worked under Hammers boss Manuel Pellegrini at City, and enjoyed his best goalscoring season at the club under his tutelage, finding the net 26 times in the 2013-14 season.
West Ham should really be moving away from signing expensive veterans, but Dzeko is proven quality in front of goal, and is continuing to find the net in Serie A.
With Javier Hernandez and Andy Carroll surely primed for the chopping block in 2019, offloading those two and then signing Dzeko as well as a younger forward should give Pellegrini great options.
Dzeko alongside Marko Arnautovic could be a devastating partnership if Pellegrini goes back to the 4-4-2 system which gave him success at City, and he would certainly provide more of a threat in Pellegrini’s setup than Hernandez or Carroll.
Dzeko told Goal in 2013 that Pellegrini gave him more confidence, and a reunion could be beneficial to all parties if Dzeko really does want a Premier League return in 2019.
