Southampton fans should be excited by the possibility of Edin Dzeko and Danny Ings working in tandem.

Southampton have lacked a prolific scorer for a number of seasons now, and their striking problems have not been entirely solved this term.
Danny Ings is having to shoulder most of the Saints’ goalscoring responsibility on his own, but the addition of Dzeko would help take some of the pressure off the England international.
And the pairing of Ings and Dzeko should be an exciting prospect for the St. Mary’s crowd.
Dzeko’s aerial prowess and hold-up play means that he could be the ideal partner for Ings, who is tireless and quick.

With Dzeko winning physical battles against defenders, Ings would be free to attempt to spin in behind and play on the shoulder of the last man.
The addition of Dzeko in January should, therefore, by treated as a top priority for Mark Hughes’ side.
And if Southampton do have Dzeko and Ings lining up in tandem from January onwards, they will be a much greater threat in the second half of the season.
