Wolverhampton Wanderers winger Helder Costa made his debut for Portugal against Scotland on Sunday.
Wolves winger Costa was in action for Portugal against Scotland away from home at Hampden Park in Glasgow in a friendly international on Sunday evening.
The 24-year-old former Benfica prospect scored in the 43rd minute to help Portugal to a comfortable 3-1 win.
It was Costa’s first game for Portugal, and his 30-year-old international teammate Eder, who won the Euro 2016 finals with his national side, was delighted for him.
Eder said about Costa on Sky Sports Football on Sunday evening (7:12pm, October 14, 2018): “It’s very good because he is a young talent and he has been improving a lot, and we need players like him and I am very happy for him.”
Quality footballer
Costa joined Wolves on loan from Benfica in the summer of 2017 and made the move permanent in January 2017 for a transfer fee reported by BBC Sport to be worth £13 million.
The 24-year-old scored 10 goals and provided eight assists in 30 Championship starts for Wolves during the 2016-17 campaign, according to WhoScored.
During the 2017-18 campaign, the winger scored five goals and provided six assists in 21 league starts for the Wanderers, according to WhoScored.
