Eddie Nketiah, Gjanni Alioski and Luke Ayling were just some of the players to react on Instagram to Leeds United parting ways with Leif Davis.
Leeds announced on their official website on Tuesday that the 21-year-old has joined Championship side Bournemouth on an initial loan deal, with a view of making that deal permanent.
Davis came through the ranks at Elland Road and memorably made his debut at Aston Villa in 2018.
Leeds came from two goals down to win that Championship encounter 3-2 on that afternoon at Villa Park, with the young fresh-faced teenager playing at left-back.
Nonetheless, Alisoki posted ‘good luck buddy’ to the defender when his move was announced.
Whilst Arsenal striker, Nketiah, who played with him at Elland Road posted: ‘All the best brother’. And Luke Ayling told him to go and ‘smash it lad’.
Davis may have dropped down a level but he is still swimming in the deep end in England’s second-tier.
Bournemouth, who have Scott Parker at the helm, will be aiming for promotion next season after losing the play-offs under Jonathan Woodgate’s stewardship last time out.
A player like Davis has been part of a dressing room that suffered play-off heartache one season and then followed it up by smashing their way to promotion.
He may not have played a regular role like others, but he would have felt that energy and gained valuable experience that he can now use at Dean Court.
