Dilan Markanday has posted on Instagram after completing a permanent move from Tottenham to Championship side Blackburn Rovers. Arsenal star Eddie Nketiah, and ex-Spurs man Noni Madueke, have responded.
Markanday, 20, has opted to leave Tottenham on a permanent basis having failed to add to his solitary senior outing under Nuno Espirito Santo. He made it clear, that his search of first-team football was key to his decision.
Blackburn have chanced their arm on the attacker, who has been lethal for Tottenham’s 23’s. He has scored 12 goals in 14 Premier League 2 games, as well as laying on five assists – seemingly tempting Blackburn to sign him.
It sees the youngster leave Spurs after nine years at the club, the club he joined aged just 11. He posted twice on Instagram – firstly paying tribute to Spurs and then secondly, to underline his delight at moving to Blackburn.
Nketiah, Madueke and more react as Markanday leaves Tottenham
Markanday could prove to be a fantastic signing for Blackburn – and could even end up in the Premier League come the 2022-23 campaign. Tony Mowbray’s side sit in third, just two points behind leaders Fulham.
Of course, Tottenham have sold on their young stars before – and they have gone on to shine. Just look at PSV Eindhoven ace Madueke, who has had a hand in 24 goals during his 54 PSV appearances so far.
Madueke was among those to respond, as was Arsenal striker Nketiah on Instagram – the latter of whom is likely to follow Markanday’s lead, and leave his boyhood club soon, with his contract ending in June.
