Leeds United manager Marcelo Bielsa has opted to start Patrick Bamford ahead of Eddie Nketiah in every Championship game so far this season.

Leeds United striker Eddie Nketiah has stated in a brutally honest manner that he’s ‘not happy’ with being on the bench and that he thinks he is ‘good enough’ to be in the starting XI.

Nketiah is yet to start a Championship game for Leeds this season, with his manager Marcelo Bielsa opting to select Patrick Bamford ahead of him in the pecking order.

Whilst Nketiah hasn’t been given enough chances to start when he has been on the pitch for Leeds, he has delivered as he has four goals to his name.

Speaking to Sky Sports News (16/10/2019 6:20 am), Nketiah sent a brutally honest message to his manager by stating that he is good enough to start and then pointing towards the fact that he has scored when given a proper chance.

“I am trying to do as much as I can,” Nketiah told Sky Sports News. “I am not happy with being on the bench. I think I am good enough to be in the team. All I can do is put in the performances I do when I come on. Try and contribute.

“I think with the chances I have had, I have done really well. Two games I have played and I have scored. I always try to help the team when I come on.

“I feel like going away with England is always a great opportunity for me because I can continue to put a case forward and show myself. It’s a great platform and I am just grateful to be here. I just want to continue to do well at this level and for Leeds.”

Nketiah’s hat-trick for England U21’s last night would have no doubt sent out a message that he is ready to prove his worth at Elland Road.

Whilst Bamford has found the back of the net in a respectable manner this season, there have still been matches where he has been his old self and he has missed a number of costly chances.

It does seem, at this moment in time, that Nketiah has been more clinical than his fellow striker, as it remains to be seen whether Bielsa will change his stubborn ways and give the Arsenal loanee a start in the league.
