Bournemouth goalkeeper Asmir Begovic is reportedly attracting the interest of Scottish Premiership champions Celtic.
Bournemouth manager Eddie Howe had to previously deny that he had a bust-up with reported Celtic target Asmir Begovic last season, as he also defended his error-ridden performances.
The Daily Star previously claimed that Celtic are interested in the 32-year-old goalkeeper, who lost his place in Bournemouth’s starting XI towards the back end of last season.
That resulted in his manager having to deny that there had been a bust-up between the two, with Howe stating at the time that they just had a ‘chat and talk’ and he’s ‘happy’ with where his player was at in terms of his game, as quoted by Sky Sports.
Begovic’s error-ridden performances resulted in him being dropped, with Howe making it clear at the time that he will always continue to back his players despite benching the experienced man at the time, as quoted by Sky Sports.
This should make interesting reading for Celtic supporters because it gives them an idea of where one of the reported players they are interested in is at and whether it is worth pursuing a move for him.
There’s no doubt that Begovic has an abundance of experience to his name, but he has just come off a poor campaign for Bournemouth.
Whilst Howe backed his player, as you would expect and as he would with all his players, it should be questioned whether Celtic should push for a move for the player.
It remains to be seen whether Howe will be happy to see Begovic part ways with Bournemouth or whether he’d want him to fight for his place in the starting XI ahead of the new Premier League season which starts in August.
