Eddie Howe has told Monday’s press conference – as per The Chronicle – that Bruno Guimaraes is already impressing everyone in Newcastle training. The Brazilian only linked up with the Toon last Friday.

The 24-year-old midfielder joined Newcastle in the last week of the window from French side Lyon, for a fee in the region of £40million. But he was on international duty, and only jetted in to the Tyneside afterwards.

He has now trained with Howe’s side and the Toon gaffer was asked about his marquee signing’s first impressions. Bruno is expected to start for the Toon on Tuesday night – as the Toon play host to Frank Lampard’s Everton.

He shared what the squad think of the Brazil international and the quality he has shown in training – both on and off the ball. It is a verdict that will certainly excite Newcastle fans, ahead of a potential debut on Tuesday.

“Calmness, composure. He’s got a creative eye. A very intelligent footballer. His positioning is very good. He wants the ball continuously. He’s someone we love, can’t wait to see him play in a Newcastle shirt,” Howe said.

Howe on Bruno: Newcastle man has got to start against Everton

Howe will have the likes of Jonjo Shelvey, Sean Longstaff and Joe Willock to choose from when it comes to partnering Bruno in midfield. Isaac Hayden is injured and has not been included in the 25-man Toon squad.

Meanwhile, Jeff Hendrick has moved to QPR on loan. So, the chances of Bruno starting are high – and it is more of a question who partners him. It is likely that England international Shelvey will be the man to get the nod.
