Tottenham Hotspur and Chelsea are reportedly interested in signing Adam Smith from Bournemouth in the summer transfer window.
Bournemouth defender Adam Smith has played well this season. The 26-year-old right-back has established himself as a key figure for the Cherries in the Premier League.
Smith’s performances for Bournemouth have seen him linked with Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur. The Sun has credited the two London clubs with interest in the right-back.
Eddie Howe has responded to speculation linking Smith away from the Cherries. The Bournemouth manager has stated that he is actually happy that the 26-year-old is (reportedly) on the radar of other clubs.
“I am not surprised people are talking about Adam,” Howe told The Daily Echo. “He has had a very good, consistent season. But, certainly, we will keep our best players.
“I’d much prefer my players to be talked about positively, than having none of them being linked with anyone else.
“It means they have had a good season and contributed in the right way for the team. I will take that, because I think that’s where we want all our players to be.”
Smith started his career at Tottenham, but the defender failed to make an impact at White Hart Lane and left Spurs in 2014.
The right-back has done very well at Bournemouth, and given that he is 26 years of age, his best ays are ahead of him.
It would make sense of Tottenham to sign Smith in the summer transfer window given his progress, although the defender should be careful regarding a move to Chelsea as he may not play regularly for the Blues.
