Paul Dummett may be available to new Newcastle United manager Eddie Howe in the next few weeks, as the defender targets a return from his long-term injury, per Chronicle Live.
The Welshman is yet to feature so far this term after developing a calf issue after a pre-season friendly with Rotherham United.
His injury was only expected to keep the 30-year-old out until September, but he suffered a setback in training.

Dummett is eager to finally return to fitness and have the chance to impress Howe during Newcastle’s busy festive schedule.
The Toon have eight Premier League fixtures before the year is over, including six games in 26-days from December 4.
Dummett is likely to return to full training in the coming weeks and hopes to feature for Newcastle next month.
Howe welcoming Dummett into his fold will mark a clean bill of health for Newcastle, with the defender their only injury concern at present.

Dummett eyes long-term Newcastle stay after overcoming injury
Dummett is not only hopeful of being in contention under new boss Howe next month, but also earning himself a new contract at Newcastle once he overcomes his injury problems.
The Toon activated a 12-month extension clause in his £35k-a-week deal earlier in the year. He would otherwise have been a free agent this summer, but will currently from next June.
Dummett hopes to spend his entire career at St James’ Park after only leaving during loan transfers so far.
He has made 201 appearances for the Magpies across all competitions since debuting in 2013 under Alan Pardew.
Dummett additionally made 18 of his Newcastle appearances under Steve Bruce last term after a spate of injuries.
