Newcastle United boss Eddie Howe has praised winger Jacob Murphy for his performance against Crystal Palace on Saturday.
Jacob Murphy earned huge praise from Newcastle United boss Eddie Howe.
Newcastle ran riot against Crystal Palace on Saturday afternoon, with Murphy opening the scoring from Kieran Trippier’s pass.
Murphy then set up Anthony Gordon to make it 2-0 before Sean Longstaff added a third.
Callum Wilson made it 4-0 after the break, handing Newcastle a thumping victory ahead of this week’s Champions League clash with Borussia Dortmund.

Eddie Howe praises Newcastle United ace Jacob Murphy
This was another outstanding team performance from Newcastle, but one player certainly stood out.
Winger Murphy picked up a goal and two assists as he absolutely terrorised the Palace back line.
Magpies boss Eddie Howe was hugely impressed and moved to hail the former Norwich City talent.
Speaking to BBC Sport, Howe suggested that Murphy was ‘excellent’ and a ‘constant threat’ against Roy Hodgson’s side.
Howe felt that scoring the first goal was so important against Palace, with Murphy the man to step up and break the deadlock early on.
“Jacob Murphy was excellent today, he was a constant threat. That first goal was huge in the match because Crystal Palace defend very well.

My view: Howe continues to improve Newcastle players
Newcastle have been on a stunning rise since their 2021 takeover, but can’t take anything away from Howe’s coaching here.
Some of the players starring now were either out of favour under previous managers or had been written off by plenty of supporters.
Fabian Schar, Sean Longstaff, Miguel Almiron and Joelinton all spring to mind, with Murphy fitting the bill too.
Rafael Benitez pounced to sign Murphy for £12million in 2017 but he struggled to find consistency and was even targeted by Rangers in 2021.
Now showing his quality under Howe, Murphy is another great success story from the Newcastle manager’s magic touch.
