Newcastle United manager Eddie Howe wants to sign Ben Mee from Burnley in the January transfer window, according to The Sun.
Newcastle interest in Ben Mee
The British tabloid has claimed that Mee, 32, is out of contract at Burnley at the end of the season.
And Newcastle boss Howe wants to bring Mee to St James’ Park in the January transfer window.
Along with Mee, Howe also reportedly wants to sign another Burnley defender, James Tarkowski, in the middle of the season for Newcastle.
Newcastle are looking to bring in former Tottenham Hotspur right-back Kieran Trippier from Atletico Madrid in January as well, according to the report.

Could a January transfer happen?
In our opinion, it is very unlikely that Mee will join Newcastle from Burnley in the January transfer window.
Yes, the 32-year-old is out of contract at the Clarets in the summer of 2022.
And yes, Mee worked with Newcastle manager Howe at Burnley in 2011-12.
But, Burnley are also in a relegation fight.
Moreover, Mee is the Burnley captain.
Burnley will surely not want to sell as important a figure as Mee, and that too to a fellow relegation candidate in the middle of the season.
