Eddie Howe’s Newcastle United are reportedly trying to beat Erik ten Hag’s Manchester United and Ange Postecoglou’s Tottenham Hotspur to the signing of Ivan Toney from Brentford.
According to Football Transfers, Newcastle United, Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur all are interested in signing Ivan Toney from Premier League rivals Brentford.
Newcastle United linked with Brentford striker Ivan Toney
Newcastle manager Eddie Howe personally wants to bring Toney to St. James’ Park in the middle of the season to enhance his side’s chances of finishing in the top four of the Premier League table.
Football Transfers has added that Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur are also considering making bids for the 27-year-old striker in January 2024.
The England international striker is serving a ban at the moment and will be available to play again only in January 2024.
Eddie Howe trying to bring back Ivan Toney after Rafael Benitez sold him
Newcastle United will likely have to pay a lot of money to sign Ivan Toney in January 2024.
The Times reported in August 2023 that Brentford want as much as £80 million for the England international in January.
Interestingly, Toney could have been starring for Newcastle right now.

The 27-year-old moved to Newcastle in 2015 after leaving Northampton Town.
The striker could not make a massive impact in the Magpies’ first team and had loan spells at Barnsley and Wigan Athletic among other clubs.
Newcastle sold Toney to Peterborough United in 2018.
Rafael Benitez was in charge of the Magpies at the time, and the former Liverpool and Real Madrid manager did not see Toney as a player who could succeed in the first team under him.
As we now know, that has proven to be a mistake.
Toney has made 68 appearances in the Premier League so far in his career.
The striker has scored 32 goals and given nine assists in those games.
