Eddie Howe has said that Callum Wilson was Newcastle United’s best player as his side beat Everton 4-1 on Thursday night.

The £20 million (Sky Sports) scored an excellent brace on the day, opening his account with a poacher’s finish before putting the ball into the top corner from outside the box in what was a stunning strike.

Eddie Howe was buzzing after how well Callum Wilson performed for Newcastle United after they demolished Everton.

The England international suffered a surprise dip in form after the World Cup, considering how effective he was during the first half of the season.

However, it seems like Wilson is back to his best, scoring vital goals off the bench and putting the ball in the back of the net off the bench.

Eddie Howe heaped praise on to Callum Wilson, who registered his 12th and 13th league goals of the season for Newcastle against Everton.

“It was part of a wider rotation, but again, I was aware of Callum’s record against Everton having been the manager for most of those goals that he’s scored against them”, he said, via the Beanyman Sports YouTube channel.

“His performance today was second to none it really was. I think mentally, he knew it’s difficult and he’s got to take his opportunity when it comes. Two goals, two very different goals but two special goals for us so I think he’s in a good place.”

The fact that Eddie Howe can rely on both Callum Wilson and Alexander Isak for Newcastle is a massive advantage and it showed against Everton.

While Isak is perhaps the better all-round player and that is the reason why he starts, having Wilson as his understudy is incredible for the English manager.

Most clubs cannot say that and for a club aspiring to play Champions League football next season, that is such a bonus.
