Speaking on the Talking Transfers Podcast, Graeme Bailey has been speaking about Newcastle United and some supposed interest in Solly March.
The Brighton ace has been making headlines in recent weeks. He netted twice against Liverpool over the weekend, while he bagged a wondergoal against Southampton in late December too.
March is in the form of his life, and it’s fair to say that he’s catching the eye of some other clubs.
Newcastle are keen on the player, and according to Bailey, Eddie Howe is enamoured by the 28-year-old, while Dan Ashworth, who has worked with March in the past at Brighton, is also keen.

Bailey shared what he knows about this player.
“In terms of one of their homegrown talents, Solly March. He has 18 months left on his deal. He is arguably Roberto De Zerbi’s favourite player. He has gone up a level. Brighton are aware of this, they know there is some interest. Dan Ashworth likes him at Newcastle, Eddie Howe loves him, he’s that sort of character isn’t he, he’s exactly the sort of player you could see under Eddie Howe. And he’s also on the radar of Gareth Southgate,” Bailey said.
He should stay
As much as a move to Newcastle would be alluring to any Premier League player at this moment in time, we can’t help but think that March should stay at Brighton.
As Bailey says, he’s one of De Zerbi’s favourite players – guaranteeing him first-team football every week. He fits into the system, and he’s a local lad to boot.
If all goes to plan, Brighton may well be playing European football next season, and March will surely want to be a part of that.
