According to The Mail, Newcastle United want to sign Dominic Solanke, and that would certainly be an intriguing signing.

The striker has been on fire in the Championship this term. He’s scored 18 goals in 25 appearances, and understandably, Newcastle are looking at him.

It’s not all that surprising to hear that the Magpies want Solanke. After all, he has signed him before during his stint at Bournemouth, and he’s had some very good things to say about him in the past.

What’s Howe said about Solanke?

Howe has been full of praise for Solanke in the past.

“Dominic is someone who has always kept his head down, he’s worked hard, he’s never let any outside noise affect him, he’s been very consistent with his attitude and his work.

“He’s a great lad, he’s got an incredible ability. And he’s had to deal with a lot the other way (criticism).

“Sometimes you’ve got to realise that very young players make big moves and moving area and all the things that come with a transfer, sometimes it takes players longer to settle at a new club than others.

“But he’s an outstanding player, I have said that from day one, and he’ll only continue to get better.”

Second time lucky

This would be the second time that Howe has signed Solanke, and he will be hoping that he can get more out of him this time around.

Solanke only scored three goals in 42 league appearances for Howe at Bournemouth, but his recent resurgence under Scott Parker has shown that there is very much still a quality player in there.

Solanke would be a lot more confident in his abilities this time, and Howe clearly believes he can get something out of the England international. After all, he did call him an ‘outstanding player’.
