Eddie Howe looks to be in pole position to land the Celtic job as the Bhoys finally close in on their replacement for Neil Lennon.
Lennon left Celtic almost two months ago, and whilst a host of names have been mentioned, it’s Howe who is now leading the way in the race for the job.
The Scottish Sun report that a deal for Howe could be done this week; there are some issues to iron out, but the Bhoys are confident that he will become their new manager soon.
If Howe does land the job, then he will look to form opinions on Bhoys players ahead of the summer window – and one player has seemingly impressed him for a long time.
Back in 2018, The Scottish Sun reported that Bournemouth were plotting a bid for Celtic ace Callum McGregor, claiming that Howe was a ‘long-term admirer’ of the midfielder.
Celtic managed to cling onto McGregor, and now Howe will get his wish – to work with McGregor and give him a key role in his team.

McGregor has been picked out as Celtic’s main man with Scott Brown off to Aberdeen, with many now believing that he will be the heartbeat of the Bhoys midfield and, most likely, their next captain.
It looked like McGregor would be key next season anyway, but Howe has loved him for some time now – and it the imminent appointment bodes well for the Scot’s future and importance at Parkhead.
