The Arsenal loanee impressed for Bournemouth against Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday.
Bournemouth boss Eddie Howe has told the club’s official website that Jack Wilshere was “excellent” against Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday.
The Cherries held their North London counterparts to a 0-0 draw at the Vitality Stadium yesterday.
It was not a memorable affair, but the Arsenal loanee might remember the clash for what it represented to him on a personal level.
The 24-year-old had not completed 90 minutes of Premier League football for two-and-a-half years before Saturday following an injury-ravaged time of it with the Gunners.
But the England international started and finished Saturday’s clash with Tottenham, and offered some very encouraging signs that he is getting back to his best form.
Wilshere took the brave step to leave boyhood club Arsenal on loan for the sake of his career, given the options Arsene Wenger has at his disposal back at the Emirates, and Howe says the midfielder posted a fine performance against the Lilywhites.
“Jack was excellent today, first and foremost defensively where he supported Callum Wilson with some unseen work, winning second balls and doing the niggly things well,” he told the club’s official website.
“With the ball he gained more influence as the game went on, his performance warranted the 90 minutes and his performances are improving, he will only get better.”
He has started five Premier League games since joining the South-Coast club, and the goal for Wilshere will to be to stay fit for the entire season and return to Arsenal reinvigorated.
