Rangers are unlikely to bring defender Jack Simpson to Ibrox this summer.

Bournemouth boss Eddie Howe has told the Daily Echo that he doesn’t think defender Jack Simpson will end up joining Rangers on loan this month.
Rangers have been busy in the transfer market this summer, bringing in 11 new signings as Steven Gerrard has been backed heavily in the transfer market.
Gerrard has strengthened his back line, firstly bringing in goalkeeper Allan McGregor before adding two full backs in Jon Flanagan and Borna Barisic, as well as centre backs Nikola Katic and Connor Goldson.
However, Rangers did allow Bruno Alves and Fabio Cardoso to leave, meaning they are still a little short at centre back, which has prompted interest in a number of defenders.
One name linked last week was Bournemouth youngster Jack Simpson, with the Daily Record reporting that Rangers were chasing a loan deal for the centre back.
The 21-year-old is behind the likes of Nathan Ake, Steve Cook and Simon Francis in the Bournemouth pecking order, and Rangers were seemingly hoping to take him on loan and develop him.

However, Bournemouth boss Eddie Howe has now told the Daily Echo that he doubts Simpson will be heading to Ibrox as the Cherries have a streamlined squad, and don’t have the depth to let Simpson go this month.
“Let’s wait and see on that. I would doubt it,” said Howe. “We have a streamlined squad, we don’t have big numbers and don’t have great strength in depth beyond the 20 players that I have available at the moment so I would be reluctant to lose anybody else,” he added.
