Newcastle United have suffered yet another huge injury blow as the Geordie side continue to struggle with multiple absentees.
Eddie Howe’s Newcastle United have had a plethora of injury problems this season but the Geordie side remain in the hunt for either Europa League or Champions League football next season.
Part of Newcastle’s recent success has been moving Brazilian forward Joelinton back into a more deeper position alongside Bruno Guimaraes in midfield.
However, the Geordie side have suffered a huge blow this afternoon as Howe has confirmed that the former Hoffenheim forward could well be out for a prolonged period of time as yet another injury problem rears its ugly head.

Joelinton injury problem
The 27-year-old was forced off in last weekend’s FA Cup third-round victory at rivals Sunderland. He was replaced after 47 minutes by Lewis Miley.
At the time, the former Bournemouth boss spoke of his concerns around the fitness of the Brazilian and these fears have been realised.
“The prospects over the next couple of weeks aren’t good,” Howe told The Athletic. “It’s an injury that will make him miss a minimum of six weeks. He’s a huge player for us, it’s a big blow. He’s had a stop-start season.
“He’s got a problem with the tendon in his quad. It’s a very difficult place to get an injury, hence the timeframe. He’s very disappointed. We’ve had to do a job of picking Joe up because he’s very disappointed.
“We haven’t wanted to focus on the injury situation as it’s an injury. It’s another freak one, he’s off-balance trying to switch play, his leg is in an awkward angle and he picks up another injury.”
Newcastle’s injury problems
In attack and midfield, especially, the Geordie side have been incredibly unlucky with injuries this campaign and a study from Sky Sports highlighted the extent of this crisis.
They found that Newcastle, Brentford and Brighton & Hove Albion had the most injury problems to contend with this campaign as the Geordie side have suffered a whopping 24 different injuries.
It is quite ludicrous how unfortunate the Geordie side have been with injuries this campaign and the hope will be that Joelinton’s problem isn’t too serious and he can be back in February,
