Eddie Howe has labelled Tottenham forward Heung-Min Son as ‘one of the best-attacking players in the world’, whilst speaking to Sky Sports PL (23/11/20 at 10:20 pm).
Those comments came as the former Bournemouth manager was praising the Tottenham man for his defending during his side’s win against Manchester City on Saturday.
During the match, Kane was dropping deep on a number of occasions to keep Spurs compact, whilst Son was acting as a fullback to prevent Man City’s wide players from expressing themselves.
Howe was reacting to a clip where Son is helping out his right-back in a defensive position and he praised the whole team for being selfless.
“I love this clip because Son is back helping his fullback,” said Howe. “First and foremost, one of the best-attacking players in the world. He is back defending, doubling up and showing the team how important it is to defend in these moments together and not just as individuals.
“Look at the team length, from Harry Kane, the highest striker to the defence, it’s a minimal distance [about 20 yards]. So, they have everybody contributing to that effort.
“You have got Sissoko almost filling in a fullback position. So, it really is everyone collectively. Harry Kane almost then filling into a left-midfield position. For the good of the team. Not for them. But for the good of the team.”

That £22 million Spurs spent on Son five years ago [BBC Sport] is one of the best pieces of business the shrewd Daniel Levy has conducted during his tenure in North London.
£100 million plus would be needed now to prize away the versatile attacker from Spurs, but he won’t be going anywhere any time soon.
If Spurs are to lift silverware at the end of the season then a player like Son remaining fit will be crucial to Jose Mourinho pushing the team over the line.
