Could Aitor Karanka be a good managerial appointment for Leeds United?
Leeds United are on the lookout for a new manager following the recent shock resignation of Garry Monk.
Monk stepped down from his managerial role at Leeds despite almost guiding the Whites to a top-six finish in the Championship this season.
The West Yorkshire outfit will be aiming to finish in the playoffs during the 2017-18 campaign, and one suspects that they will appoint a quality and proven manager.
After all, after the success of this past season, it is logical that former Premier League outfit Leeds will try to build on it.
Leeds legend Eddie Gray has given his thoughts on whether the club should appoint Aitor Karanka as their new manager.
Karanka is without a managerial job at the moment following his departure from Middlesbrough in March 2017.
“He did well at Middlesbrough and I don’t know what happened up there,” Gray told The Yorkshire Evening Post when asked if Karanka would be a good appointment at Leeds.
“Obviously communications between him and his board up there broke down for whatever reason so we’ll just have to wait and see.
“But whoever it is, everybody has got to get right behind the new man because that’s the nature of football.
“I wouldn’t throw any name into the hat myself, that’s not my position. The club will look at it and they will find who they think is best for the job.”
Karanka is a very good manager, and his experience of guiding Middlesbrough to promotion from the Championship to the Premier League is very appealing.
Leeds would be wise to appoint the Spaniard and then back him in the summer transfer window.
