Leeds suffered a 2-1 loss to Derby County on Tuesday night despite taking the lead.

Leeds Manager Eddie Gray looks dejected during the FA Barclaycard Premiership match between Arsenal and Leeds United at Highbury on April 16, 2004 in London.

Leeds United legend Eddie Gray has told LUTV that he wants to see his former side move the ball a lot quicker when in possession after the Whites suffered a 2-1 defeat to Derby County.

The Whites suffered a sixth defeat in their last eight matches in all competitions against Gary Rowett’s side, despite taking the lead through striker Pierre-Michel Lasogga in the first 10 minutes.

Leeds failed to add to their lead before Derby striker Sam Winnall equalised for the Rams in the 72nd minute, and it was the former Barnsley striker who pushed his side into the lead from the penalty spot after Hadi Sacko felled Tom Lawrence.

Gray criticised Leeds after the match, claiming the Yorkshire giants were not quick enough in moving the ball around when in possession, as well as stating that Thomas Christiansen’s side lacked concentration and leadership.

“We’ve got to move the ball quicker. A lot quicker,” Gray said. “Once the type of game becomes a battle, not necessarily a battle of strength but a battle of wits, we need to be better.

“They had an experienced side and once they got a grip they were never letting go. We lack that little bit of concentration and leadership; you need that at times.”

Leeds remain in sixth position in the Championship table despite their poor run of form, but now sit six points behind the automatic promotion places in England’s second tier.

Christiansen will be desperate to see some of the pressure subside on Saturday, as the Whites travel to Griffin Park to face Brentford.
