Robert Green left Leeds United for Huddersfield Town in the summer transfer window.

One of the many changes that Leeds United made in the summer transfer window was the departure of Robert Green.
The 37-year-old was the first-choice goalkeeper at Leeds last season and was a key player in the Whites’ push for the Championship playoffs until the final weeks of the season.
The West Yorkshire outfit, though, signed Felix Wiedwald from Werder Bremen in the summer of 2017, and Green left for Huddersfield Town in the Premier League.

While Wiedwald’s initial performances for Leeds were encouraging, the German made a number of errors, which led him to losing his place in the team.
Andy Lonergan came into the Leeds starting lineup, but the former Wolverhampton Wanderers custodian – also a summer signing – himself has made mistakes.
While explaining what Leeds need to add to the team in the January transfer window, club legend Eddie Gray has praised Green.
The former Leeds and Scotland international winger believes that the 37-year-old was tremendous during the 2016-17 campaign.

Gray told The Yorkshire Evening Post when asked what Leeds need in January: “You have got to look at our side last year and the strength was right down the middle of the park.
“You lost a centre-back last year who did well for us in Bartley, your goalkeeper was first class and your centre-forward scored 30-odd goals.
“It’s very difficult to replace somebody who scored 30-odd goals – put it like that – and I thought the goalkeeper had a tremendous season. And Bartley played well too.”
Gray’s comments highlight the mistake that Leeds made regarding Green, who should have remained the first-choice goalkeeper at Elland Road this season.
