The Leeds legend is backing his former side to edge Saturday evening’s clash.
Leeds United legend Eddie Gray has given his prediction for Saturday evening’s clash with Aston Villa at Elland Road, in an interview with the Villa website.
The two sides meet in Saturday’s late kick-off with both in fine form, having shown their own significant improvement in recent weeks.
Leeds have won four and lost just one of their last six Championship matches, while Villa are unbeaten in seven since Steve Bruce’s appointment in mid-October, taking 15 points from a possible 21 during that time.
The clash between two of the historically most successful clubs currently plying their trade in the Championship is one of the standout games in each side’s fixture list.
It could go either way given the impressive form of both sides, but Grady is expecting a tight game and a narrow Leeds win.
He told avfc.co.uk: “I think it will be a tight game. Villa have drawn a lot of games but they’re climbing the table. I think they’re one of the clubs you’d expect to push on in the second half of the season and try and get into that top six.
“I know there was a bit of turmoil at Villa last season but since Steve Bruce has come in they’ve picked up and been difficult to beat.
“I think both sides have got players who can make a difference. When you look at the game I think a lot of neutrals would say it’s got draw written all over it, especially with the way Villa have been playing. I think we could just manage to sneak it. I think we could win the game by the odd goal in three. So I’ll go 2-1 to Leeds.”
Victory for either side would boost their play-off hopes at the start of what is always likely to be a defining month of busy fixtures as the midway point of the season approaches.
A win for Leeds could allow them to leapfrog Birmingham City into fourth, whilst victory for Villa could potentially see them rise as high as seventh.
