Leeds United returned to winning ways in the Championship at the weekend. The Whites got the better of Ipswich Town 3-2 at Elland Road on Saturday afternoon.

The West Yorkshire outfit had suffered a 1-0 defeat to Millwall away from home at The Den in the Championship last weekend.

Although the Whites bounced back with victory over Premier League club Burnley away from home at Turf Moor in the third round of the EFL Cup last week, it was going to be tough to pick up maximum points against Ipswich even at Elland Road.

Leeds, though, managed to bag all three points and did so deservedly. Among the players who impressed for Thomas Christiansen’s side against the Tractor Boys was Conor Shaughnessy.

Shaughnessy, who can operate as a central defender or as a central midfielder, started the match and played for the entire 90 minutes, and the performance of the 21-year-old was very encouraging.

Leeds legend Eddie Gray was impressed with the former Republic of Ireland Under-18 international’s performance.

“I thought Shaughnessy played very well at centre-back,” Gray told LUTV.

Gray added: “I must say I thought the young boy played very well on the day, great pass for the first goal, for Lasogga’s goal, I think it was a terrific ball, great challenge near the end of the game. He can be proud of his performance as well.”
