Leeds suffered a 1-0 loss to Ipswich Town last time out.

Former Leeds player Eddie Gray waves to the fans during The Emirates FA Cup Third Round match between Newport County and Leeds United at Rodney Parade on January 7, 2018 in Newport, Wales.

Leeds United legend Eddie Gray has told LUTV that Saturday’s clash against bitter rivals Millwall is the perfect match to get back to winning ways and to regain a place in the Championship’s top six.

Leeds go up against the Lions at Elland Road this weekend after a recent run of disappointing results that has seen the Whites go four matches without tasting victory, losing to Birmingham, Ipswich, Newport County and drawing against Nottingham Forest.

Thomas Christiansen’s side lost to Millwall at the Den earlier in the season 1-0, thanks to Aiden O’Brien’s 73rd minute winner but Gray believes Leeds can gain revenge with all three points.

The former Leeds player and manager believes three points against Neil Harris’ side will see the Whites regain their place in the top six of the Championship, after dropping into seventh place in Englands second tier.

“It was a game where we never performed,” Gray said, about Leeds’ loss to Millwall in September. “It was a disappointing performance, but it’s an opportunity to put that result right.

“Go and win the game next week and as I’ve said many times before – win your home games and you’ll be there. If we beat Millwall, we will probably bounce back into the top six.”

Leeds suffered a 1-0 loss on Saturday after Eunan O’Kane was shown a straight red card in the first half, before Bersant Celina scored midway through the second half to condemn Leeds to a second straight defeat.

Leeds will be without midfielder O’Kane for three matches, while Samu Saiz has five matches remaining on the sidelines after being banned for spitting at Newport winger Robbie Willmott during the dismal 2-1 FA Cup loss.

Millwall will take positives from their recent record against Leeds, winning four of the last seven though Leeds have won the other three matches.
