Leeds United are outside of the Championship playoffs at the moment.

Leeds Manager Eddie Gray looks dejected during the FA Barclaycard Premiership match between Arsenal and Leeds United at Highbury on April 16, 2004 in London.

Eddie Gray has told The Yorkshire Evening Post that the way Leeds United are playing at the moment, they do not have a chance of finishing in the top six of the Championship.

Leeds are 10th in the Championship table at the moment with 23 points from 16 matches.

The West Yorkshire outfit are three points behind Aston Villa, who are currently sixth in the standings and occupy the final playoff spot.

Thomas Christiansen’s side started the season strongly, but their recent results and performances have been disappointing.

Leeds legend Gray, 69, has said that with the way the Whites are playing at the moment, they will not finish in the top six or the top two.

Leeds manager Eddie Gray (2nd from R) shouts instructions during the FA Barclaycard Premiership match between Fulham and Leeds United at Loftus Road on March 13, 2004 in London.

“The way we are playing at the present time, no,” Gray told The Yorkshire Evening Post when asked if Leeds’ season could yet end with a top-six or a top-two finish.

“But if we start to perform better and perform like we were performing at the start of the season then we have got an opportunity because it’s a strange league.”

Leeds have a strong team, and the way they started the season suggests that they know what it takes to finish in the playoffs.

What the Whites need now is to put together a run of positive results after the international break and somehow grind out wins.
