Kemar Roofe flattered to deceive for Leeds United last season.
Eddie Gray has told LUTV that Leeds United attacker Kemar Roofe will be disappointed with his debut season at Elland Road.
The 24-year-old joined Leeds from Oxford United under Garry Monk for £3 million last summer.
But the former West Bromwich Albion man wasn’t always a great return for the money after scoring three and setting up seven goals in 43 Championship appearances.
He joined the Whites as a striker – which he says is his favoured position – but ended up playing the vast amount of his games on the right wing, a role which does not appear to suit him all that well.
So far this season, Roofe, playing up front following Chris Wood’s exit, has four goals in two games from a central role, but Gray believes that the young attacker will be desperate to impress after suggesting he’ll have been disappointed by what he did – or didn’t do – last term.
He told LUTV: “I think Kemar will be a bit disappointed with his performances last season.
“We never really got settled in wide areas, in who was going to be playing one week to the next. He’s definitely a finisher – he can definitely finish – and he proved that against Newport.”
Roofe might be forced back to the wing shortly after Leeds signed striker Pierre-Michel Lasogga on deadline day.
