Kemar Roofe looks a man reborn for Leeds United so far this season.
Eddie Gray has told LUTV that Leeds United attacker Kemar Roofe will only get better for the Elland Road club.
The 24-year-old finally looks to be the £3 million player that Leeds spent on him last summer after netting four goals in his last two games from a central role.
The ex-West Bromwich Albion ace, who joined from Oxford United, spent most of last season on the right wing and wound up with only three goals in 43 Championship games.
But so far it seems like Thomas Christiansen, unlike Garry Monk, is prepared to give him chances up front and it will be interesting to see whether he retains his place in the first XI following Leeds’ deadline-day loan deal for striker Pierre-Michel Lasogga.
Physically, Lasogga is much more similar to Chris Wood – who left for Burnley – than Roofe is, so it remains to be seen who Christiansen sees as his first-choice striker.
In any case, Roofe looks a man reborn these days, and Gray claims there’s a lot more to come from the attacker.
“He’s another one who will only get better. I think there’s a lot of improvement to come from Kemar. He has a good knowledge of how to get into the game,” he told LUTV.
“Hopefully everything will happen for him this season.”
With the arrival of Samu Saiz and Egzjan Alioski, Roofe is arguably playing with better players than he was in attack last season.
Alioski, for one, is a massive improvement on Hadi Sacko, who was re-signed on a permanent basis despite an indifferent loan spell last season, and he, along with the Spaniard, will help Roofe no end.
