Kouassi joined Scottish Premiership giants Celtic from Russian Premier League outfit FC Krasnodar earlier this month for a transfer fee reported by The Glasgow Evening Times to be worth £2.8 million.

The 19-year-old is a hugely talented and promising midfielder who has arrived in Scottish football with a strong reputation.

“He is probably one of the major influences,” Kouassi told The Glasgow Evening Times about Rodgers. “He is not a small coach, he is a big coach. He has got a reputation and that was a major influence in my decision to come to Celtic.

“I have known of him for a long time and when I came here he told me that he saw me and he wanted me here.

“He told me that I work and I will succeed so it was all about my potential and if I work hard I will get somewhere.”

Celtic are at the top of the Scottish Premiership table at the moment with 64 points from 22 matches.

The Hoops are 22 points clear of second-placed and Old Firm rivals Rangers and are the clear frontrunners for the league title.

The Glasgow giants will return to action on Wednesday evening when they take on Aberdeen at Celtic Park in the Scottish Premiership.

Celtic will then face St Johnstone away from home at McDiarmid Park in the Scottish Premiership on Sunday afternoon.
