Jannik Vestergaard is reportedly interesting Tottenham and Arsenal.
Borussia Monchengladbach sporting director Max Eberl has told German newspaper Bild that his side have “no reason” to sell star defender Jannik Vestergaard despite interest from Tottenham Hotspur and Arsenal.
Italian outlet TuttoMercatoWeb claimed earlier this month that both clubs were after the defender, as he continues to impress in the top tier of German football for Gladbach.
The 25-year-old has caught the eye of both north London clubs after scoring seven goals from centre-back in the calendar year of 2017, with three of those coming this season in his 19 Bundesliga appearances.
The 15-time international is renowned for his impeccable aerial ability as well as his neat footwork and distribution, with Arsenal still yet to plug the leak at the back while Spurs could be on the lookout for a long-term Toby Alderweireld replacement.
But Eberl ended either side’s chances of landing the 6ft 5in colossus by telling Bild: “There is no reason for us to give up Jannik.”
Alderweireld, who is currently injured, has plenty of doubt circling his future as he is yet to sign a new deal. Although his current contract ends in 2020, clubs will see bids of £25million accepted in the summer of 2019 due to a release clause.
Arsenal have constantly needed a centre-back, with Shkodran Mustafi not proving to be the answer and Per Mertesacker yet to prove that age is just a number.
But both sides will seemingly have to look elsewhere as Eberl makes it strikingly clear that Vestergaard is not for sale.
