Speaking on the Seaman Says Podcast, former England goalkeeper Paul Robinson has been chatting about Aaron Ramsdale and his fantastic debut season for Arsenal.
The ex-Sheffield United man arrived at the Emirates for big money in the summer, and, somewhat understandably, there were question marks around the signing.
Indeed, Ramsdale was coming off the back of his second consecutive Premier League relegation, and many Arsenal fans couldn’t get their heads around the idea of signing a goalkeeper who had consistently failed at this level.
However, Ramsdale has kicked on massively this season, and according to Robinson, he has proven a lot of people wrong.
What’s been said?
Robinson spoke about Ramsdale.
“You look at him and you look at his CV to date and the relegations he’s had. It’s very easy to jump on the bandwagon and say he’s not good enough and that he’s been relegated so many times, but he’s proven people wrong. He had a tough apprenticeship with the places he’s been and the goals he’s conceded, but he’s shown a lot of mental strength. This season he’s been a revelation and he’s done outstandingly well,” Robinson said.

Great start
Ramsdale has had a fantastic start to his Arsenal career, but in order to truly prove people wrong, he needs to keep this level up next season.
Yes, he’s riding on the crest of a wave right now, but how many times have we seen new signings slack off after a brilliant first season?
Ramsdale has a fantastic foundation to now build his Arsenal career upon, but he can’t allow any sort of second-season syndrome to affect him next term.
