Liverpool forward Roberto Firmino has been labelled the best false nine in the world of football by Cesc Fabregas.
Firmino produced a masterclass in Liverpool’s 5-0 win over Manchester United last weekend.
The Brazilian didn’t get his name on the scoresheet, but the way in which he played the false nine role was lauded by a lot of people in football – including Reds boss Jurgen Klopp.
In fact, Klopp claimed that one day, Firmino would have books written about him due to his understanding of this role.
During his time at Barcelona, Fabregas played in a similar position.
And the former Arsenal midfielder claims that there’s nobody better than the 30-year-old when it comes to this job.
Bargain
The former Hoffenheim hitman joined Liverpool in a £29 million deal under Brendan Rodgers six years ago.
And what an unbelievable piece of business that has proven by the Northern Irish manager.
In terms of what he does, Firmino is absolutely a level above anyone else right now and Fabregas is right in his claim that he’s the best.
He’s never going to be in contention for a Golden Boot, a central Mohamed Salah.
But providing he continues to be a perfect foil for Salah or Sadio Mane or Diogo Jota, who cares?
Liverpool’s forward line is as lethal as it ever was and the Brazilian can claim to play a huge part in this.
