One of the decisions that Wolverhampton Wanderers, who look certain to clinch automatic promotion to the Premier League at the end of the season, will have to make in the summer transfer window is whether or not to sign Benik Afobe on a permanent contract.

Afobe returned to Wolves on loan from Bournemouth in the January transfer window, and the striker’s performances so far have been quite encouraging.

The 25-year-old former Arsenal prospect, who earns £1.4 million per year as salary according to Spotrac.com, has scored four goals in 370 minutes of Championship football for the Wanderers.

The DR Congo international scored 23 goals in 48 appearances during his first spell at Wolves, and it is clear that he is a very good striker at the Championship level.

Doubts, though, remain on whether Afobe is good enough in the Premier League, especially as he struggled at Bournemouth.

Signing Afobe on a permanent contract could prove costly for Wolves, as Bournemouth are unlikely to sell him for anything less than the £10 million they paid to the Wanderers to sign him in January 2016, as reported by BBC Sport.

Perhaps Wolves should re-sign Afobe on loan from Bournemouth in the summer transfer window until January 2019 and see how he does in the Premier League under manager Nuno.
