Cristiano Ronaldo is a fan of Tottenham Hotspur’s latest reported transfer target Bruno Fernandes, but Mauricio Pochettino should act with caution over any move.

A Bola claim that Spurs are interested in signing Fernandes in the summer transfer window, as he has enjoyed a highly impressive campaign.

Indeed, Fernandes’ showings for Sporting have caught the eye of Ronaldo, who was full of praise for the midfielder.

“He told me that I was good at Sporting, that I should continue this way,” Fernandes said, when sharing a conversation he had with Ronaldo earlier this season, to Record.

“He wished Sporting had a lot of success and so did I.”

Ronaldo developed at Sporting before going on to become one of the best footballers in history, so it is understandable that he still keeps a keen eye on matters at his former club.

Spurs are also said to have been watching Sporting heavily, with Fernandes the target of their interest.

The 23-year-old has been a revelation this season, when he has scored 13 goals and claimed 16 assists.

But Spurs would really be buying Fernandes on the back of one truly stand out campaign.

Before moving to Sporting, the attacking midfielder showed plenty of promise, but never managed to really show his class on a consistent basis.

And Spurs may need more evidence of Fernandes’ quality, before paying big for the youngster.
