Aston Villa defender Easah Suliman has reportedly had his loan spell at FC Emmen cut short.
A big month, both on and off the field lies ahead for Aston Villa and Dean Smith as they push for promotion to the Premier League.
With the January transfer window officially opened, Villa have already made their mark by recalling Tommy Elphick from his loan spell at Hull City, as confirmed on the club’s official website.
It seems as though centre-back Elphick isn’t the only defender who will be making an early return to B6 in January.
Dutch outlet RTV Drenthe claimed on Friday that academy product Easah Suliman will cut short his season-long loan at FC Emmen.
The 20-year-old only managed nine minutes on the field with the Eredivisie outfit as it remains to be seen what happens with the club’s youngster if speculation surrounding his return is true.
Despite Villa being lightweight and fragile at the back, Suliman isn’t good enough to break into Smith’s first team.
The promotion-chasing outfit, who now have three senior centre-backs at their disposal, are better off signing a left-sided centre-back this month in order to add balance to their backline.
Suliman has hardly played any regular football in recent months and is better off being loaned out to a club that will provide him with the valuable minutes on the field of play.
If Villa opts against that idea then, for his development, playing for the under-23’s is better than warming the bench of another team.
