Rangers are close to clinching their first deal of the transfer window.
Rangers are closing in on the signing of Northern Ireland international Steven Davis.
Davis is set to undergo a medical, The Scottish Sun report, having agreed a deal in principle to return to Ibrox.
The agreement is an impressive sign of intent from manager Steven Gerrard, getting a key piece of business done early.
Davis should be ready to make his debut when Rangers face Cowdenbeath in the Scottish Cup in mid-January after the winter break.
The move for Davis also shows Rangers are in ‘win now’ mode and believe Celtic can be toppled in the title chase.

Davis is not a young signing who has potential. He is a steely veteran with more than 100 international caps, who is not arriving to sit on the bench.
He is a short term signing who Gerrard believes can benefit Rangers immediately and make a difference.
Rangers need leaders to help them chase down Celtic and Davis’ experience can be beneficial. He knows the club and the set up, and won’t need much time to adjust.
The Gers clearly believes the title is there for the taking, and so they should after their latest result. Davis is the next step in Gerrard’s plan.
