The 20-year-old joined Leeds United on loan and will spend the next few months with their under-23s.

Leeds United signed so many new players this season – both for the senior side and for the under-23s – that it would be easy for a few names to slip the minds of their supporters.
One such player could be Oliver Sarkic, who joined the Whites on loan from Benfica until January, and while it is very early days the 20-year-old is starting to impress for Leeds’ second string.

Sarkic is a centre forward whose future at parent club Benfica looks up in the air, with the youngster already having a trial at Swansea City in a bid to make a name for himself in English football and, based on his recent performance for Leeds’ under-23s against their Bolton Wanderers counterparts, he has the raw ingredients to excel.
While Jack McKay scored the only goal of that game to give Leeds a much-needed 1-0 win, Sarkic shone throughout, missing a great chance to score an early goal when his effort was deflected over from close range and then seeing another attempt saved impressively by the opposing goalkeeper.

Sarkic will know every under-23 match is both an audition and an opportunity to prove a point to Leeds, Benfica and the clubs that have previously opted not to sign him in a permanent deal such as the Swans.
Leeds have so many exciting young players coming through the ranks that Sarkic will be hard pressed to stand out, However he certainly did that against Bolton and, if he can get on the score sheet when the second string face Burnley next time out, it will be another big step in the right direction.
