Rotherham were held to a 2-2 draw at home by Nottingham Forest in Wednesday’s Championship encounter.
Rotherham United took the lead against Nottingham Forest after 30 minutes through Jon Taylor’s side-footed shot.
There were no goals for quite some time after Taylor had broken the deadlock before the game suddenly erupted in the last 15 minutes.
The arrival of Nicklas Bendtner on to the field for his Forest debut after 59 minutes may have played a part in this.
With 76 minutes gone, Matt Mills equalised for Forest with a header, and when Darnell Fisher was given a second yellow in the 83rd minute Rotherham had their backs against the wall.
The pressure told, and Forest took the lead two minutes later through a sensational overhead kick from Apostolos Vellios.
But the ten men of Rotherham were not done. With only three minutes of normal time left, Taylor curled in his second goal to salvage a point for his side.
Forest had the lion’s share of possession, and so Rotherham will be happy with having taken a point away from a game in which they were dominated.
Philippe Montanier’s side enjoyed 63 per cent possession and had 23 shots on goal compared to Rotherham’s 13.
Rotherham fans took to Twitter after the match to reflect on the result. The general vibe from the game is positive with the club lying in 20th place, while the performance of the referee left much to be desired for the fans.
They also reserved praise for striker Izzy Brown who is currently on loan from Chelsea.
Rotherham are next in action when they visit Blackburn on Saturday afternoon.
